A Seat at the Table with Councilor Moseley

As F. Scott Fitzgerald puts it: “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” Ah fall, I love how the seasons in Central Oregon change on the dime. Speaking of which, voting season is also a time for a change. Last month, the SCNA shared time with Councilor Russell and Kevney Dugan of Visit Bend.

This month we are sharing time with Councilor Moseley. In the meantime, please think about what you care about in "community". For example, I care most about affordable housing and family wage jobs because, at the end of the day, the amount of disposable income you have left to play defines you and your measure of quality of life. Bottom line: livability.

You're invited to join us on Thursday, October 18 as we gather for our October fall meeting at 61478 Duncan Lane hosted by Aaron and Heather Jones. The meeting starts at 6 pm. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. A board meeting will follow our guest presentation and Q&A. Please note we follow an Agenda and Robert's Rules of Order.

Please note that the SCNA doesn't have the capacity to invite all the candidates who are running for mayor and city council; however, the BEND Neighborhood COALITION is hosting an event where neighbors can meet all the mayoral and council candidates this Sunday, October 14th, 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Wille Hall, Coats Campus Center, COCC Bend Campus. This event is free and open to the public Audience members will be able to submit questions in writing early for the event.

Neighborhood Associations are not political organizations. We do not endorse or financially back candidates. We are a group of volunteers, in part, funded by the City of Bend. This is an open and laid back opportunity to get to meet city councilors a well as other officials on a personal level, and what you do at the end of the day, including the way you cast your vote, is personal.

Past guests have included Mayor Roats, Councilor Russell, Councilor Campell, Bend’s Growth Management Department Director, Nick Arnis, and representatives from Bend Parks and Recreation, Central Oregon Irrigation District, and Central Oregon LandWatch.

“What kind of city do I want in 20 years? A city that embraces all the values underpinning why we love it here now: The natural outdoors, friendliness, clean air, an acceptance of each other, and a pretty good lifestyle overall.”
    —Mayor Sally Russell
